Senior Firewall Engineer (Hibrido, Lisboa)

We are looking for a Firewall Architect to define, design and continuously improve enterprise network security architectures, ensuring secure, scalable and resilient firewall and segmentation solutions.

The role focuses on security architecture, firewall policy design, network segmentation and technical governance across enterprise environments, including Palo Alto, Fortinet and VMware NSX-T / VCF9 Network.

Key Responsibilites:

• Define and maintain enterprise firewall and network security architectures aligned with security and business requirements.
• Design firewall policies, network segmentation and micro-segmentation solutions across traditional and virtualized environments.
• Provide technical direction on Palo Alto, Fortinet and VMware NSX-T / VCF9 Network security solutions.
• Establish and promote firewall policy standards, best practices and security design principles.
• Review existing architectures and propose improvements to enhance security, scalability, resilience and operational efficiency.
• Provide technical expertise for complex incidents, connectivity issues and security-related changes.
• Ensure solutions comply with security standards, architecture principles, compliance requirements and SLAs.
• Collaborate with Network, Security, Infrastructure and other technical teams on solution design and implementation.
• Support and guide Firewall Engineers on complex technical and architectural topics.
• Produce and maintain architecture documentation, technical standards and security guidelines.

• 7+ years of experience in Network Security / Firewall Engineering, with proven experience in firewall architecture and design.
• Strong expertise in network security, routing, switching, segmentation and micro-segmentation.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet and/or VMware NSX-T / VCF9 Network.
• Strong experience designing and implementing firewall policies and security architectures in enterprise environments.
• Experience defining security standards, architecture patterns and best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and experience supporting complex production environments.
• Experience with IT production processes, including incidents, requests, changes and technical documentation.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across multiple teams.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Language skills: Fluency in at least two of the following languages is mandatory: English, French or Portuguese.
