Application Operations Enginner (Hibrido, Porto)

We are looking for an Application Operations Engineer to join our IT Operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, stability, and performance of business-critical applications and the underlying infrastructure. You will work closely with Development, Infrastructure, Database, and Networking teams to support production environments, manage operational changes, resolve incidents, and contribute to the continuous improvement and automation of IT operations across hybrid and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and resolve production incidents, ensuring service continuity and compliance with established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Coordinate and execute operational changes and technical activities, including infrastructure maintenance, server operations, and planned interventions.
  • Participate in application and infrastructure change management, collaborating with Development, System Administration, Database, and Networking teams.
  • Monitor the health, availability, and performance of applications and infrastructure, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues.
  • Manage application capacity and performance to ensure optimal service delivery.
  • Administer and validate infrastructure backup and recovery processes through regular restore testing.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date technical documentation, including application architecture, operational procedures, and monitoring requirements.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and provide support during planned off-hours interventions when required.
  • Contribute to the automation and continuous improvement of operational processes and standard procedures.
  • Collaborate with development teams to define and implement operational requirements and infrastructure standards for new applications.
  • Ensure operational activities comply with internal standards, security policies, and best practices.

Requisitos mínimos

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Application Operations, Application Support, Production Support, Systems Administration, or similar roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows systems administration.
  • Experience with enterprise schedulers (e.g., BMC Control-M), scripting (Shell, Python, and/or PowerShell), and application servers such as JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, or IIS.
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, and/or MySQL), infrastructure backup and recovery, and monitoring tools such as Zabbix or Grafana.
  • Good understanding of Active Directory, LDAP, Kerberos, Firewalls, Reverse Proxy technologies, container-based infrastructures, and basic networking concepts.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher (mandatory).
  • DevOps mindset with a proactive approach to automation, continuous improvement, and problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills, team spirit, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment.
